Welcome to ASCCO

The Association of Special Constabulary Chief Officers (ASCCO) has developed this website in order to make the organisation accessible to all stakeholders of every police service within England and Wales. Being the leading authority of the Special Constabulary our role primarily involves directing the Special Constabulary nationally as a support structure to our regular counterparts. As of April 2016 the membership now extends to Special Inspectors (or equivalents).

ASCCO Extends Membership To Special Inspectors

EGM unanimously votes to extend Association membership to include Special Inspectors

The Special Constabulary National Conference 2016 was the scene of the ASCCO Extraordinary General Meeting which ratified the decision to extend the Association's membership to include Special Inspectors (or equivalents.)

On Saturday 23 April 2016 the results of a series of ballots were formally received and recorded by the membership present.

There were a series of motions which were proposed by James Deller, ASCCO Secretary and seconded by Nigel Green MBE, the ASCCO Chair.

All seven motions were carried with a resounding majority which is a positive indication of the direction of the Association.

The motions were:

1. To move the AGM from September/October to April each year

2. To approve the Association's initial Trustees for the Charitable Incorporated Organisation

3. To extend the tenure of the existing Executive until April 2017 (the next AGM)

4. To extend the tenure of the existing Council until April 2017 (the next AGM)

5. To extend membership of the Association to include Special Inspectors or equivalents

6. To introduce an Associate Member representative on the ASCCO Council

7. To appoint Rob Beckley as the Association's Honorary Vice President

ASCCO Chair Nigel Green MBE said: "This is the right thing for ASCCO to do given the increasing need to have an association which represents all special constables and extending our membership is a step in the right direction.

"ASCCO are becoming increasingly involved in the wider policing discussions, including the College of Policing's review of Leadership. We are keen to ensure that we are the trusted voice of the special constabulary."
